Banknote Albums for Decimal Notes

Any collection of Australian decimal notes will look much better and be much safer if it is housed in proper albums. Gone are the days of keeping notes in plastic (PVC) pages, which can sweat and damage notes in the long-term. Now that sales tax is abolished the cost of better quality albums and pages is similar to that of PVC, so don't delay housing your collection in something better and more meaningful with interleaving pages, which set out and explain all the various issues.
There are two page sizes (with albums) recommended. Lighthouse Vario (218 x 280 mm) and Lindner (270 x 295 mm). If anything, the Vario is a fraction too small for some larger notes and the Lindner too large for average notes, but there is nothing in between. Both are guaranteed by their manufacturers in Germany to be safe for your notes, the Vario being vinyl and the Lindner, acetate. One, two or three panel pages are available, all at the same price, the three panel being the most commonly used.
You can put the pages in any type of folder, but there are specially produces covers and slipcases for Vario and Lindner. The Vario cover has 4 x O-rings and a slipcase. The Lindner 18 rings, or a different style of D ring cover with a clear loose-leaf top cover, which can contain more pages and slips into a vinyl box-like slipcase. Several colours are available in each cover, black, brown, blue, red, green, so state preference.
The cost of albums is as follows, subject to future changes in exchange rates.
Vario cover and slipcase - $45.00
clear pages for notes, each - $1.30
black interleaving pages, each - $0.65
Lindner covers and slipcase - $75.00
clear pages with white backing pages - $1.90
A Vario album will fit into a 3kg express post satchel for $9.00 delivery anywhere in Australia, but the Lindner is too large and must travel at parcel rate, which varies according to destination.
Special interleaves printed in black and white on 200gsm polished art paper enhance and explain the notes in your collection e.g. star notes, serial numbers etc. Last printed in 1987 by Michael P. Vort-Ronald, the various types are as follows;
General circulating paper notes, $1 to $100 - $48.00
General circulating polymer notes - $14.00
First and last prefixes for paper and polymer designs - $12.00
Annually dated notes, black or red serial numbers, each - $10.00
Specialist notes grouped into types and black or white numbers - $20.00
The cost of a made up Vario album with general circulating notes from $1 to $100 is $145.00 but it is recommended that you use two covers to accommodate all the pages and prevent overcrowding ($190.00) plus parcel rate postage. One D ring Lindner album would suffice, total price $198.00. If you wish to add interleaves and pages for other collections as above, write or fax for a total quote including postage costs. All postage is charged at cost to the nearest dollar. If in doubt, please enquire.
